Graduated with a Licenciate Degree in Law (equivalent to LL.B + LL.M) from the Carlos III University in Madrid, Spain, Santiago is a trained, confident and competent corporate lawyer who has worked within a number of industries and geographical locations including; Spain, Norway, the Netherlands, UAE and the Cayman Islands.

Santiago a has worked for international law firms, investment companies, family offices and sovereign funds, mainly as legal corporate lawyer, head of the legal department and/or as member of the board of advisors .

As part of his role as a legal consultant in the Cayman Islands, Santiago advises on the establishment, regulation, governance and on-going operation of all aspects of Cayman Islands hedge, private equity funds, cryptocurrency funds, M&A (e.g. involving blockchain technology), ICOs, corporate, finance and banking. He provides Cayman law advice to companies, banks, investment fund managers, in-house counsels, onshore counsels and high net worth individuals to help them deal with day-to- day issues and complex strategic matters.

Qualifications:

Santiago has completed and updated his education and training with a number of Masters including;
(i) a Master’s Certificate in Project Management by the George Washington University;
(ii) a Master’s Certificate in Private Equity and Venture Capital by the Università Bocconi of Milan;
(iii) a Master’s Certificate with Honors in Financial Market from Yale University; and
(iv) a Master’s in Blockchain in Financial Service by INSEAD Paris.

Santiago has also completed the Cayman Island Monetary Authority training on AML/CFT risks and compliance policy and procedures.
